Breaking Free from Ungodly Traditions of Men – A Call to Biblical Truth
Share
Many believers today are caught in the web of traditions passed down through generations, traditions that often deviate from the pure teachings of scripture. While these customs may seem harmless, they can often lead us away from Yahuah’s commandments, replacing the truth with man-made practices that dilute the message of the gospel.
Yahusha warned against the dangers of these traditions in Mark 7:8-9, saying, “You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions... You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!” These words should awaken us to the reality that not all traditions align with the Word of Yahuah. Whether it’s pagan-rooted holidays, unbiblical doctrines, or practices that prioritize church customs over scripture, we must be diligent in testing everything against the Word.
Breaking free from these ungodly traditions requires a heart willing to be transformed by the truth of scripture. It means returning to the commandments as outlined in the Torah—laws that Yahusha Himself upheld—and living out the principles of love and obedience. Yahusha emphasized that the greatest commandments are to love Yahuah with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40). True love manifests not just in words but in actions that reflect Yahuah’s character.
As believers, we must stand firm in our commitment to the commandments, not as a means of salvation, but as a demonstration of our love and faithfulness to Yahuah. Let us cast off the traditions that distract us from this mission and embrace the teachings of scripture fully, allowing them to guide us in truth and righteousness.
